Trojan War: The Greeks First Attempt

The theme 'red' from Illustration Friday.com made me think of war so to follow the 'Greek theme I've been doing naturally I thought of the Trojan war and the Trojan Horse. The horse was a brilliant idea and brilliant ideas generally come from many not so brilliant ideas so I decided to illustrate the first for many bad ideas before they came up with the horse.

You've done a great job with the cutout style. I like the drawing as well. Two things to fix: Is that beer on the ground? It looks like some weird shapes right now. Also, the writing on the side looks like you used the airbrush tool in photoshop. You should spend more time on it so it doesn't look so cheap.

Love it. Makes one wonder what the other not-so-brilliant ideas were. Did you learn this from the History Channel ;-)

I think you do well in this style. I loved your Menelaus character you posted earlier. This is a really fun idea. I'm glad to see you creating a full illustration with a story behind it. It just needs to be a little more refined. Some of the shapes are a little awkward, like his arm holding up the lid, and the orange shapes on the ground. I think if you practiced some more in this style, you could come up with some swell images.
