This was from an exercise from class. We were supposed to draw one of our classmates using light and dark tones of color. It turned out ok but her mouth is kinda funny
First I want to say that this image is totally a copy of some concept art for Nightmare Before Christmas that I found in a book. So it isn't mine ut I did some neat packaging tap stuff with it. All the orange is color coming out from the under layer
One too many potato chips. Thats all I have to say. Here's another scratch board image. It is more successful than the first because the shapes are more interresting and there is some texture in the white space. Pretty cool
I love the raw chunckyness of the lines in the helmet. This is just a practise and I learned that the cross hatching stuff doesn't go very well with the lines of the helmet. So I won't do that again.
A storm tossed ship crashing through the waves of the ocean is what came to my mind with the theme of "crash". The ship is based on drawings and models of what ancient Greek war ships were supposed to look like at the time of the Trojan war. The thing sticking off the front was actually used for ramming other ships in battle. There's a random history lesson for you.
Here was my first practice doing a digital painting with texture. It really isn't a Greek field. I just named it that because everything else on the site had something to do with ancient Greece. The painting is a little baren. I could have put something interresting in it but I didn't.
Icarus sprouted wings... sort of to escape from King Minos who locked him in a tower for some reason on the island of Crete. There were a couple problems with this one. unfourtunately I couldn't fix them before I had to post it.
The theme 'red' from Illustration Friday.com made me think of war so to follow the 'Greek theme I've been doing naturally I thought of the Trojan war and the Trojan Horse. The horse was a brilliant idea and brilliant ideas generally come from many not so brilliant ideas so I decided to illustrate the first for many bad ideas before they came up with the horse.
I'm studying ancient Greek civilization so when I hear the word hero that's what I think of. This piece was all done in vector art and I had a great time with it. There were some dramatic falling outs in our relationship but it didn't turn out too bad.
Here is a vector drawing experiment. I learned a lot of neat things but i could have done better. The colors are kind of boring and the floor in the picture only has one tone in it with no texture or light like the rest of the objects. I'll have to pay more attention to that in the future.
Me first image that has gone through an imense amount of digital modifications. I drew it first, then I scanned it.

This cube rectangle combo was part of an in-class assignment. I give myself an A+.
